Frequently Asked Questions Minimize
Frequently Asked Questions

How do I copy my contacts over?
One way to move your contacts between phones is to Bluetooth the business card from your old handset to your new handset. This will ensure that all of the details for instance an email address and job title will be moved across. Most handsets have the option to do this, ensure that Bluetooth is turned on on both handsets, usually this option is found in settings and/or connectivity. Next on your old handset go to your contacts and under options, mark all of the contacts. Once this is done you can send business card via Bluetooth. Your old handset should automatically try to find any Bluetooth devices, select your handset once it is found and the contacts will copy across.

I have not received all the phones that I ordered, when do I get the rest?
If you have only received part of your phone order please notify someone ASAP. A few options are to call 3 directly on 133 103 or to call your account manager here at Mobycom and get them to follow up on it for you. It may be a simple mistake or even just coming in two separate deliveries, but it is a good idea to check just in case.

How do I monitor how much of my cap I am using?
You can monitor your usage online. You must set up a ‘My 3’ account. To do this you simply go to http://www.three.com.au/ and register for a free account. You will need your 4 digit account pin that you chose at point of signup. Then simply create a username and password for yourself. Once you have registered you can follow the screen prompts to check your bills and how much of your cap you have used.

Tips on how to use my handset?
Technology is constantly progressing and evolving. However, this does mean that the newer your phone is the more likely you will have a few questions about how to make the most out of its vast range of functions.

We get many customers calling in with questions about their phones, which button to press, how to set them up etc. Unfortunately, the person you end up speaking to may not have used this particular phone personally and would probably only be able to give limited instructions and advice over the phone.

A good place to start is by calling our Product Support Team (1800 070 434). They will generally be able to help you through your problem step by step over the phone. Be sure to call them from a landline and have your mobile with you so you can get a greater understanding of the steps they take you through on your phone.

The Communications Revolution Minimize
Communications revolution – times and business have changed

It wasn’t long ago that geeks started talking about convergence, a concept which sounded like double-dutch to most people.

However, with the advent of 3G mobile phones (3G stands for third generation), which allow internet access and other useful features, people are starting to understand what convergence really means.

Instead of television being confined to TV sets, we can now view our favourite shows on computers and phones; we can make phone and video calls from computers; we can read newspapers on-line and we can navigate from anywhere to anywhere using a mobile phone. All of our information streams are converging.

In fact, it goes way beyond that because internet access is getting quicker and most of the information we receive, including television and radio, is now in a digital format, opening up the prospect of transmitting very high quality data such as high definition television.

Since communication is central to almost every business (trade, services, manufacturing, health, heavy industry etc.), these changes have dramatically altered the landscape for most small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

While keeping up with the pace of this revolution has stressed many businesses, the smartest among them have recognised that it creates the opportunity to compete with much larger companies.

Networking, sophisticated database and management systems, on-line and mail order marketing all used to be the exclusive province of big business. Convergence has given SMEs the low cost means to do the same things.

It raises the question of what equipment and communications systems modern SME’s need to have to survive and flourish.

While people are rapidly beginning to understand that iPhones and their rivals are replacing laptops, there are many lesser-known technologies and applications that can make life easier, cheaper and more productive.

These include facilities like voice over internet protocol (VOIP) technology that can radically cut your phones bills; and computer-based alternatives to expensive telephone PABX systems. I will look at some of these in detail in following columns.

Let me finish this article by pointing out that the revolution is a long way from ending. You will have heard people talking about 4G mobile phones and “fibre to the node” broadband. As they are introduced over the next few years, our phones and internet connections will typically run at 100 megabytes per second – many times faster than existing broadband and 3G. That will present many more possibilities and we will look at some of those as well.
